Moisture is bad for you and your flat - get moisture out of the house. Wet houses are harder to heat and make mould grow - and mould can be dangerous to your health

• Turn on the fan or open the window as soon as you turn on the shower
• Keep steam in the bathroom – during and after your shower – shut the bathroom door

• Put a lid on pots and pans when cooking
• Use extractor fan/ open the window when cooking

• Don’t dry washing inside – you’re adding 5 litres of water to the air per load
• Never use an un-flued gas heater – you’re adding 1 litre of water per hour (an un-flued gas heater is a heater with no venting to carry pollutants and moisture outdoors)
• Open window and doors when the weather is good - air the house like your granny does
• Shut the curtains at sundown to keep the heat in and open them in the morning to let light and sun back in
• Stop drafts – doors and windows – temporary solutions: door sausage or towel to block gaps
• Until your landlord has fixed the house so moisture stays out, remove condensation from windows (towel or squeegy) – then dry towel outside
